Photos with no home
The main galleries I’ve created for my photos reflect the subjects that I snap the most but, inevitably, there are some photos that don’t fit those broad categories. For the moment, there aren’t enough of these to justify creating new galleries, so I thought I drop some of my favourites into this ‘other stuff’ category. In time, I may get enough photos in some of these subject areas to create a proper home for them, but for now they will live here.
Spitfire and Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RIAT 2018.
Ukrainian Su-27 "Flanker" at RIAT 2018.
USAF F35A at RIAT 2018.
The Milky Way over Weardale when I couldn't sleep at 2am. It was a school night, so I didn't take lots of photos that I could stack to make it brighter and clearer else I would've still been there at 4am. I would love to do more astro stuff, but all my other efforts so far have been nothing more than bin fodder. Also, sleepy.
Red kites are common where my mum and dad live. This one was kind enough to land long enough for me to capture this with a very long lens. Like astro, wildlife is something I'd like to do more of, but I have the reflexes of a sloth so it's a challenge if the subject doesn't sit still.
Just helping itself to the treats on the bird table in my mum and dad's garden.
Juvenile starlings fighting over smashed up fat balls. Not a sentence I'll get to use very often.
Robin
Coal tit
Blue tit
Black Tailed Godwits, I think, on Bamburgh beach.
More Red Kites in Oxfordshire. We do have them here in Weardale too, but you don't see them very often, and never when I have my camera to hand!
This juvenile Jay put in an appearance while we were sitting in my parents' conservatory eating a Father's Day take away!
Missed the focus slightly, but this pigeon seems to be having a Taxi Driver moment: "You lookin' at me?"
Zoomed in as far a my phone would go!
I saw hardly any owls for most of 2024, but then my evening dog walks must've hit the spot in late September/October because the barn owls became a common site. At the time of posting, I still hadn't managed a decent photo. This is the best so far.
